How to Calculate Two Weeks Notice
Two weeks notice is not a magic phrase—it is a last working day about 14 days after you resign. Write that date in the letter so payroll and scheduling are clear.
Simple method
Take the day you send notice, add 14 calendar days, then adjust if that lands on a day you do not work. Confirm the final date with your manager if schedules are fixed.
Shifts, clinics, and schools
Coverage-based jobs may need you to finish a posted schedule or term. Calculate from policy first, then put the agreed calendar date in writing.
Use a template with the date filled in
Copy a two weeks notice letter and replace the sample date with yours. Avoid “effective in two weeks” without a day, month, and year.
