Exit Interview Questions (What to Expect)

Exit interviews collect feedback and close paperwork. You can be honest without writing a manifesto—stick to facts, patterns, and constructive notes.

Questions you will often hear

Why are you leaving? What did you like? What would you improve? Would you recommend this employer? Any harassment or policy issues to escalate?

How to answer well

Prepare 2–3 calm points. Avoid naming people as villains in a recorded HR file unless you are reporting a serious issue through the right channel. Offer one improvement idea.

You can decline details

You can keep answers high-level (“career growth,” “new opportunity”). If something serious happened, ask HR how to report it properly rather than improvising in a casual chat.
